Does anyone have any information on or has used homeopathic products for worming. I am looking down this avenue as I have now wormed my 14 week old cocker pup twice now since we got her at 8 weeks. On both occasions she has become a different pup. Very unsettled to the point of agitation, unable to lie in one place for any length of time,(not that pups do, but she wouldn't have her usual day time sleeps) barking, etc etc. My vet said that Panacur 10% liquid is one of the safest worming products you can get and is not absorbed into the body like a lot of others. After she has had her three day course she is back to her usual loving and settled self. Maybe I am unlucky and have a sensitive pup - a bit like kids and additives! Any info on homeopathic products and whether they works or not would be great. I only want what is best for her.

Hi Lindsay

I haven't tried the homeopathic wormers but I no longer worm our Cocker litters with Panacur liquid having had a few problems with this product a while back. Our vet has had other breeders give him the same feed-back & is now advising the use of Drontal -we've been using Drontal for a while now with absolutely no problems. Panacur does obviously suit a lot of dogs but not all of them - if you have had a problem with one product, then try another - there are plenty on the market to choose from :-) You don't even have to buy them from your vet - you can order them from one of the vet pharmacies eg Vet Medic

Hi Lindsay 2,

I too have been using Drontal with no problems whatsoever. Since going "natural" with my Cassie I found that she doesn't need worming quite so often - the last time she had a wormer was in August. I asked my holistic vet regarding wormers and in his opinion it is sensible to use Drontal when necessary, because it really does get rid of all worms. I just "pop in a little sample" to my vet every 6 to 8 weeks and he checks it for worm eggs/larvae etc. As I said - no sign of the little wrigglies for 4 months now. Fingers crossed.
