Excellent!! My Hubby comes from Sunderland and has been ribbed quite a bit over the past few months, by me!! One of the Headlines in the News of the World read today, SUNDOWNLAND. He's not a happy bunny! :(

Me, I support my Home town team - Portsmouth - I believe they be being promoted to the Premier League, I wonder who's place they are taking???

:d :d :d Spot on! For any non-believers, just go into Newcastle city centre in the middle winter at night. False tan, bottle blondes and short skirts...no coats in sight. It took me ages to get used to seeing blokes strut about bare chested the moment it gets to 8 degrees.

Us Geordies NEVER wear coats when out clubbing, we're hard as nails us man :D Anyway if you wear a coat in Newcastle and take it off someone will just nick it :rolleyes: :p

As a fellow Geordie now living in Sussex; I was always led to believe that you don't buy a new (skimpy) outfit, then cover it up with a coat :D :D

And if you do take a coat out, that's 60p to put it in the clubs cloakroom.60pence!!!!! Thats half a lager in geordieland. Besides if you go minus the coat you've more chance of having your booze paid for...and you're right, the coat would only get nicked :D

I'm pleased to find another misplaced Sand-dancer on the board! Remember Minchella's ice cream?
I've printed the list out for hubby to take to work. He is a Waalsend born Mag, living in Northumberland but working in Sunderland, and boy does he like to wind them up!

Minchellas Ice-cream; now that really takes me back :D My Dad used to take to their ice-cream parlour when I was knee-high to a grasshopper :D
They made the best ice-cream ever :) are they still going ?

Course they are!! You can probably remember the one at the botom of Ocean Road, opposite the library (now Museum). There's also one at the Nook which has been there almost as long, and the new one on the prom near Bents Park. My Mum takes my kids sometimes when she has the girls when we go to dog shows. I remember going Down Town when I was 12 or so, my pal Maureen and I used to spend our pocket money, but just keep enough back for a sundae (with monkeys blood of course!)

Well if there is one thing I miss is Dab n Chips with mushy peas and gravy :D Can you hell get mushy peas and gravy in a chippy on the East Coast of Scotland and they have no idea what a dab is

Ahhhh yes am partial to a Minchellas sundae myself. We now have one just a few yards away from us at Whitburn, so its a quick walk with Max for some ice cream. :)
