My parent's have a crossbreed bitch. She is over a year old. They rescued her about seven months ago.
She was recently spayed after her first season. She has always had a problem with her waterworks and wees when she gets excited wherever she is. However, recently she has started acting very strangely. She now jumps the garden wall, although she doesn't attempt to go far it is still a worry. She has also started chewing everything is sight, her toys, her cushion, shoes. She jumps on the table top when she thinks Mum and Dad are out and can't see her.
My parents have been very patient with her, but they are very frustrated at the moment. This morning they walked into the kitchen to find she had messed near the door, and the floor was covered in the contents of her latest cushion.
She has been checked by the vet and given a clean bill of health.
Does anyone have any advice or answers. We would be very grateful.

Thanks
Tillie

Some dogs remain chewy puppies until they are two years plus!
and dogs often urinate when there excited it sounds to me like she may be getting bored!
All i can suggest is that you provide the dog with plenty of toys and chewy bones so she is not damaging the furniture and perhaps consider a craate for when they go out but you mustnt leave the dog sut in it for long peeriods of time it is very unfair
It may also help to leave the radio or television on when there out so the house isnt so quite and lonely
what sort of cross bred is she (if you can tell)

Hi , maybe they could look into the possibility of giving her a KONG. when they leave her alone , and making sure she is in an easily dog proofed place , ie the kitchen?

Melody :)

Is she getting enough exercise would you say?

Very hard to say. Almost all dogs would be happier with more exercise than they actually get. If she has any collie in her, then it's unlikely that it would be possible to over-exercise her!

I agree Jeangenie and like modern kids I think modern dogs very often get rather less than is good for them. A na****ed dog plays up a lot less than one full of beans. :)

Thank you for your posts everyone.
We think she may have been cross bred with a whippet.
She is a very active dog and I agree she may have a tendency to boredom. However, she does get plenty of exercise, Dad takes her out several times a day, I take her for a long walk down the country track and she plays in the garden with my sisters dog Gemma (my parents look after her during the day whilst my sister is at work). Also my four children are on holiday at the moment and they love playing with her and between them, my dog and my sisters dog she ought to be worn out.
She is never left alone during the day, Mum and Dad take turns staying in to look after the dogs during the day.
I mentioned the crate to my Mum, but she says she knows that she will whine, she was so unhappy when she was in the rescue centre, she had been badly treated and hated the crate, I think Mum would do anything to prevent Bess thinking that she was back in there.
Can't really think of anymore info. I can give you.
Thanks for your help, I'll pass it on.
