Just thought I'd share my great news!!!!!!!!! picked up my 8wk old adorable ALASKAN KLEE KAI puppy on Sunday didn't know this breed existed 'til 3wks ago thanks to CD. Originally wanted a sibe as I lost my 8yr old last may. Wasn't to well over the past few weeks and don't think I'd be able to give a sibe all the exercise etc they'd need. But I.m in love my black/white puppy is gorgeous she's such a little lady, I could go on & on & on but won't. thanks to all the people who tried to help, this site will be a great help from now on. They are also called "minature" huskies, sibes are/were my favourite dogs, my puppy "Misty" is just a sibe in minature. I only found out they existed about 3wks ago, checked out site and loads of info/photo's on the internet. made enquiries and I couln't believe my luck.....last Thurs. found a breeder with puppy........am now completely "owned" (got her on Sun.) wow!!!!!! I'm bessoted(sp) I've got bags under bags as two nights....new puppy........little sleep...and I don't care she is soooo beautiful. Sandra

The club has had a show for the last couple of years and they invite other rare breeds, don't know whther they'll be doing anything this year but if they do maybe I'll see you there.
Hope you have a wonderful time with your new baby.
Diane

I thought they were supposed to be like Mini Malamutes??? Whatever I am sure she is adorable, a cub of a pup like all Spitz breeds.

Those dogs are lovely!!! I've been tempted with one myself but their glamour probably makes them very expensive??? I thought there was a 2 year waiting list from one breeder yet you only waited a few weeks, did you have to travel far to get it?
By sandra2000

You're right about waiting, I waited "only" 6 months for my sibe "cody". This time I swear....someone on CD' from the USA (I think!) was told to check them out I ( being nosy) had a look on msn.....alaskan klee kai............and got "hooked". I live in Cumbernauld Glasgow. and only went to Durham to get her, I still cant believe my luck "frantic" enquieries and "no" patience paid off.........within 4 months discovered breed existed found an available pup .......and now she's here. They are very expensive. There are only a few breeders that I found all in England .If you're interested check out the site, 2nd page has the club address etc . I'm in love..... she's sitting on my lap chasing my fingers. Sandra.

What coat type has she got too as they come in a long coat as well as short don't they? I'd love to see a piccie please e-mail me cheers.

I put someone onto Klee Kai recently on here. They were looking for a mini malamute/spitz type dog. People offered all sorts of suggestions, but the Klee Kai was what came into my mind straighaway. I'd b chuffed to bits if that was what lead you to your pup.
Congratulations and I hope you get years of enjoyment. Giver her a hug from me and Taiko. :D

I STILL CAN'T BELIEVE MY LUCK!!!!!!!!! after reading you post did enquieries from then 'til Sun.13th. got puppy.....WOW!!! she's a wee cracker, was reading your post this morning realised the time scrambled to the vet...................horrible woman (or thats what Misty thinks) gave her injection, pup sccccccrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeeeeeeemed you'd have thought it was a "balistic misile". THANKS BIG TIME!!!!!! Sandra

I noticed in the Our Dogs or Possibly the Dog World Annuals that this breed had been introduced, and note from the website that one of the people involved is weell known in my first breed(BSD's), having the Delark affix!
What size or sizes have ben brought to UK. Aslo what is the breed temperament like, and are they better off lead thand their sled dog ancestors?
Hi Brainless,
That was my first introduction to Klee Kai, through the delark website as I was at that time trying to decide if I wanted a Delark (as they have lots of success in agility) or vanistica (lots of succes in obed and show). Do you have a BSD? What's your fav type? Mines the groen.
Sandra I know it is rather rude of me to ask (so don't feel you have to answer it!) but how much did you pay for your pup? It's a breed that I wouldn't rule out as my next dog. Also how do you get to your site as I can't find any links?
Cheers,
Char

Char , you can always email Sandra for the website address :) Just click on her name on her info is there

I don't know if the price is sort of secret so e-mail me as Melody suggested and I'll tell you ok? I don't think asking the price is rude, it's something you need to know while you make up your mind.(they are expensive!) Sandra

My first dog was a Groenendael bitch called Vanistica Star Atttraction, she was by Kyogi du Domaine des Noir x Vanistica Christmas Angel, and was born on 2/10/88 but sadly died on 20/5/92 :(
She sounds lovely Brainless, sorry to hear she didn't live very long. Was she good tempered? When you visited the Vanistica dogs what were they like?
Charlotte

Typical Belgian, hyper and sensitive, and wary of new things but great once soiclised. With kids I ensured she had an escape route when they got too much for her, and made it a rule that when childr3en were running about (at home in the Park etc) that she had to come and lie down by me. They are a lot like Border Collies in many ways, and not like GSD's at all.
She was an escape artist, and sound sensitive, bolting when scared when young, but learnt to run to me as she got older.
She died suddenly, the Vet thinks of a blood clot to the brain.
Hi Brainless,
Thanks for your reply! I am very tempted to get a BSD next year (or maybe a Sheltie), I really liked the Vanistica dogs when I first went to the City of Birmingham champ show last year and their Romeo won the DCC, I thought he was gorgeous. I don't really know a lot about them so hopefully when I go to WELKS next week there will be some Groen's there.
Would you get a BSD again? If not, why not?
Sorry about all the questions, I'm trying to find out as much info about these dogs as I can.
Char

I would have one again, but only if I was in a position to do some kind of work with it. they really need a lot of one on one, and intensive Socialisation to ensure you don't have a dog with hang ups.
I much prefer the the way my present breed switches on and off, being lazy lay abouts at home, other than the odd mad moments when they have a mad game, usually first thing when they have got up in the morning and tea time.
The Belgians are not a restful breed at all, you only have to get out of your chair and they jump up wanting to know what are we doing/where are we going. I found confining to lead only when my bitch was in season hard on her, as she was full of energy all the time.
I still have a soft spot for them and have freinds still in the breed, but find for me the Elkhounds are a better fit.
The main thing I wqould stress is temperament, there are too many that are nervous and highly strung. The clause about being wary in the standard seems by some to be used as a cop out for poor temperament. I must say there are some lively but solid temperaments to be found.

Hi Brainless, I'm at home all day, so hoping to do as much as I can with her, she's not in anyway nervous she,s very nosy and seems to be understandig what I say to her (could be she,s just thinking what,s your problem....looking at me whatever I,m doing...can't even pee without your face in my way<G>) My sibe was always scared, nervous and wary....totally alien to his breed (he was a big hairy wuss, I,ll always miss him!) She,s bit through........camcorder strap, cable on lava lamp, mobile phone cable..........sigh! looks like the fun,s begining, but she is a wee cracker and I feel like she,s been here forever.........gotta go now.....strange aroma wafting around ( eugh!!! and I've just eaten an easter egg, fat slob<G>) Sandra

I really like the Tanje Groenendaels, and Janet and Jenny Biddlecombe are lovely, still remembering me at shows despite my change of alliegance, lol!

you'll get better info. on www.alaskankleekai.co.uk. My puppy has a lovely, lively nature , is "paper trained" 'tho sometimes feet on paper bum on floor seems to be trying to......sit, stay which may mean she'll be trainable much quicker/easier than my sibe........early days yet, but I'm very confident. Hi Julie, She is just a wee cracker!!!!! my floors have several newspapers down, house looks like a tip....had her up to local tesco, as soon as you here awwwwwww!! she shows off, but I've had the odd what,s that.....looks like a stoat.......a weasel...a racoon, but she just looks more snobbish than normal and ignores them<G> I can,t get over how lucky I was to get her so quick, had to wait 6 months for my sibe, and I thought that was quick!!!!!!!
