Hi
I am a proud new owner of a 10 week old sbt however...............need some help and advice to what to do for the best.
I am interesteed in showing her but more importantly i would like to breed off her, i have bred dogs in the past, (king charles, and german sheperds) with my father but more of a spectator than "hands on" as it were.
So if anyone can help with some information of how i start showing her and where? And some pointers of where to get some help and info for welping i would be grateful!!!
Thankyou
Jodi B

Hi Jodi,

I think the best thing to do is, as soon as your puppy has finished her course on injections, enrol her in a good training and ringcraft class. This is never wasted, even if you don't end up showing her, and you will get a good idea of what is required in a showdog.

Get as many books on Staffordshires as you can, and read, read, read. Study the breed standard and have a close look at your pup - and be as unbiased as you can! We all love our dogs and think they're the greatest, but in all honesty very few of them are good enough to breed from (and I have some that fall into that category, but I still wouldn't swop them!)

:)

Edited to add: If you have more questions, join the Forum, and ask away! :)

As Jeangenie says find a good ringcraft for pup (either mixed or breed specific) .
We too have a Staffy pup we are "hoping" to show but in all honesty it does depend on how he is when he is older and whether he enjoys it or not as not all dogs enjoy being handled and shown .
There are a number of good Staffy sites you can get onto for lots of information and there are quite a few SBTclubs spread across the country . Where are you in the UK?
Try accessing Staffords.Co.Uk as this is quite a good site and gives lots of info
If you need further information regarding Staffy Clubs mail me ; Mckyjo@aol.com and I will pass the information on to you
Good luck
Lel
