Good evening

We have a 10 week old Golden Retriever puppy he has been with us for 2
weeks and since arriving home he has been on many occasions eating his poo

He is not underfed all eats his food well

We do praise him for doing his poo in the garden but not sure if we should
stand over him at all times

The vet suggested that we just deter him

ANY SUGGESTIONS

PS HE REALLY IS LOVELY PUPPY

Hi Guest

This is a condition called Coprophagia

If you go to a Search Engine and type that word you'll get plenty of websites with info.

If you'd like to join the board (it's free) you can always register with us :)

Congratulations on the choice of breed by the way ;)

I dont know much about this but I have heard that giving a dog black charcoal dog biscuits can stop it but a couple important notes here please-

1. first make sure there is no medical reason for him doing it
2. It must be charcoal DOG BISCUITS not just charcoal else you will cause more harm than good.

When my very young puppy tried this for a while, my breeder told me to pick up immediately so there was nothing for pup to eat. This will help to break the cycle and hopefully the pup will forget about that particular game before it becomes a habit.

If you let it become a habit you'll have to try adding a bit of pineapple to his food, so that the output tastes less appealing.

HTH, Monty's Mum :)
