I have a rotty that has bit me 3 times. Twice I went to the hospital. The last time I had 2 surgeries, and lost a lot of feeling in my left hand. My wife loves the dog, she has had it from a puppy. I love her and our other 2 rotts, but dont know what to do about this one. We went to one on one classes, we have tried everything. If you can help us before the 24 of april, contact me at curtshark@aol thank you

Hi
I dont know if this is what you want to hear but if he was mine i would have him put to sleep.
if he got someone on the street he would be in BIG trouble.
I do feel very strongly about temprement in any dog but certainly rotties.

His is ok with the other members of the family?
Is he is any pain or ill ?
Is there a reason he bites you, though not acceptable especially as you have needed surgery.
It is a hard decsion to haver him put to sleep but please dont pass on a dog with this temprement, you can never be truly sure that he is happy and being looked after.`

HI,

i'm afraid I agree with the above post, your dog has punctured your hand this was
a deliberate bite on more than one occasion in my opinion only the safest and
kindest thing to do is have your dog put to sleep. What if he bit someone else,
I know I would not be able to forgive myself and the worry would always be at the
back of your mind. You say you needed surgery if was that bad I think perhaps
there is only one answer?

What do others think?

As a very last resort could you perhaps seek a professional trainer and go on a
residential course with the dog??I don't wether this would help??

But to be honest if he were mine I would put him down.

I really feel for you and it must be so hard.

Please keep in touch.

Briony :-)

Hi

Do you think your wife tends to side with this particular dog, and maybe, subconciously <sp> encourages him to be hostile toward you? I have seen it happen a few times before, where women (seems to usually be women) will secretly enjoy having a dog that is very protective of them... and then enforce the behaviour by not isolating or reprimanding the dog? I'm afraid I'm not qualified to help, but perhaps if you can identify whats causing the problem it might give you the key to solving it. I would also suggest you talk to your vet
