Hi guest never heard of it in dogs before so can`t give any advice sorry! :) My daughter has it tho & it`s very painful & prevented her from conceiving but she was very very lucky & had an *IVF* little girl :). So maybe your dog may not be able to have pups? Mind you there are varying degrees of it so probably best to ask your vet for more info, by the way how did they manage to diagnose it? There is no cure as such, except the removal of the womb,(depending on the severity) but things can be done/given to help. Plenty of info for humans on the net if you put the word into a search engine.

I have never heard of it in dogs either, I would think she would be unsuitable for breeding and the condition is certainly very painful in humans so I imagine it could be in dogs too so I think she would need to be spayed (actually it is the removal of the ovaries rather than the womb that will rid her of it as the 'chocolate' cysts are actually endometrium outside the womb and will continue to grow is stimulated by the ovaries).

I suffered from Endometriosis some years ago, and can confirm that it is a very painful condition and makes at least 90% of women suffering from it infertile. I had to have a hysterectomy when I was only 33 because of it.
Like the others I have not heard of animals suffering from this and unfortunately very much doubt that if your little girl has this that she will ever conceive normally. As it is so painful, I think you will probably have to bite the bullet and seriously consider getting her spayed.
Sorry.

Yep, my daughter had left ovary & tube removed when she was only 22 & a few yrs after that laser surgery failed, they wanted to remove the rest & part of her bowel as it is also there. She refused & went for IVF & was successful first time(she was so lucky :) ) but other tries have failed. Nasty disease!!

Yes it can occur in dogs - I would ask your vet for more advice as you must be able to make a knowledgable decision regarding whether or not to get her spayed. A quick look at "Veterinary Notes for Dog Owners" may also give you the basics (not sure if its covered in it though). Really though speak to your vet - they should give you more information than a name for it!

No sign of it in "Veterinary Notes for Dog Owners" or "The Dog Owner's Veterinary Handbook" - only endocardiosis (which affects the heart valves, nothing to do with the uterus.) Sorry.
