Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / How accurate are canine due dates?
- By Jo19 [gb] Date 13.04.03 20:11 UTC
As some of you may know I'm (anxiously) awaiting the birth of a dobe puppy. The actual birth date is the 19 April, but the bitch was showing signs of becoming very uncomfortable a week ago (though she seems to have settled down a bit now and is eating). I was just wondering - exactly how accurate are due dates for dogs? Do most dogs go the full 63 days, or does it vary as much for them as it does for humans?

Any info much appreciated.

If it's a big litter then she could have them early, just a few days though. anything from day 57 onwards is classed as normal

Jo

******** RELAX ***********

They'll come when they are ready and not before :)

You are probably more uptight about this than their breeder :)

Dont worry jo your not on your own. My sister is awaiting a new arrival in 3 weeks time, a dobe bitch called flora!!! We have had all the details of the scan, bitchs condition and emotions. Its understandable its just like having our own babies. As others have said, relax and they will soon arrive. xx

...and biting, and mouthing, and weeing, and chewing, and wanting to be inside then outside then inside again! Enjoy the peace & quiet, cos its the last you'll see of any for the next ten years :D Not that I'd change it for the world

Hi Jo, they will be here before you know it, and then you won't have a moments peace:D Have you decided on black or brown yet? If you like you can come over and meet Taz, she's gorgeous. Have another glass of wine, and chill, lol.
