we just bought a rottweiler pup female. the breeder says she is an egyptian rottweiler. i have never heard of an egyptian rott before, only german. can you tell me if there is such a breed type? And, she has a bad habit of biting. we have tried everything, but i'm the only one who seems to have success with getting her to stop. also, my husband says since she is female, she will have a better relationship with him and my sons instead of me, but i'm the one who is primary care giver. she is my constant companion at home during the day. I call her my shadow. she's 13 weeks old and has had first and second shots. vet says she needs four parvo vaccinations, has had two, is this true that she requires four instead of the normal three? thank you for your time...

Hi,
Not heard of an Egyptian Rott before but if you want to email me with what's in her pedigree, I'll try to trace it for you.
The male/female thing doesn't matter. The dog will bond with whoever gives her the most leadership/consistent signals.
Some vets do give an extra parvo shot to Rott's so I wouldn't worry about that.
Most pups mouth/bite but they soon come out of it when they realise it gets them no attention. I always ignore mouthy dogs, say nothing and walk away - they soon realise that "oh, that wasn't the way to play".
Feel free to email me at volsungrotts@aol.com and I'll try to answer any questions.
Kind Regards.
Ali.
The previous reply is correct with regard to bonding and mouthing. My pups are going through the mouthing stage at the moment. Ive not heard of an egyptian rott before what is the name of the sire and dam (father and mother) on the pedigree form? I've never heard of vets giving four parvo jabs either - rotts or not rotts. I've just recenlty has a litter and the pups I kept have had two complete jabs.

Hi guest, I have a 12 week old Doberman who is only now stoping mouthing (lots of repeated NO!NO!) over the four weeks has made a difference not 100% stopped but getting close. He's just a pup with only his mouth to touch things with so I wouldnt worry about yr pup mouthing if you are constant (everyone in the family must do the same) Im sure your pup will stop. Till then lots of moisturiser and no washing up in hot water for those poor chomped fingers.
