Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Pink patches in Dalmations fur.

I have a neighbour who doesn't look after her Dalmation very well. He looks thin and his nails are long. He spends most of his time outside in the garden and the only company he get during the day is me if I'm out in the garden. I talk to him through the fence and he's always wagging his tail. Recently I've noticed pink patched in his fur, as far as I know he doesn't sleep on anything of that colour. Please can anyone shed some light on this subject.

Could the pink patches be where his skin is showing through?

My beardie puppy has got a white muzzle and she's looking a bit pink on the top of her muzzle where she sticks her nose out of her crate and rubs it on the bars :) She also looks very pink on her tummy where her fur is thinner.

HTH,

Fiona

I can't really see him properly through the fence. His fur doesn't seem to be thinning. I think I might have a chat with my vet.
Thanx for your reply. Teresa (Guest)

Dear Parson Breeder. I haven't a clue what Dally Rash is but like I said to Fiona, I think I'll have a chat with my vet when I next see him.
Thanx for the reply.

My first guess is dally rash, too.

Just as well I can't see him - I'd get so cross at this treatment of a dog that simply will not thrive without human company.

Me too JeanGenie

Guest - can you not chat to your neighbour - see if they have had enough of him and want to find him a new home? Can put you in touch with the rescue service if so....

Dear ChloeH, thanx for your reply.
I've spoken to my neighbour before but she is just so damn rude. I have politely asked her on several occassions to pick up the dog poo in the garden as it was starting to smell a lot. I think picking it up is too below her. What kind of impression does she show her children, on how to look after pets. I won't even tell you about the cats.
I think I might have a chat with my vet when I see him in a few weeks. She must have her dog registered at the same vets as me as it's the only one in our village.
I have even spoken to the RSPCA and the reply I got from them was, as long as the dog is being tended to once a day and not being mis-treated there is nothing they can do. I would of thought being left out in the garden all day and neglected was in my eyes being mis-treated.
Thanx once again for your reply.
Teresa.

Dear Jeangenie, thanx for your reply.
Yes it does make you very angry especially as I have pets of my own. I can't tell you how upsetting it is but you can probably imagine. I've phoned the RSPCA and the lady I spoke to said, as long as the dog was being tended to once a day and wasn't being mistreated there was nothing they could do. Makes you wonder why you make contributions to some of these charities.

I have posted about skin sores on my Dalmation on another post but I see you talking about 'Dally Rash', I wonder if you could be really kind and have a look at my post under the subject and see if that looks like Dally Rash. I know nothing about it at all. Thanks so much.
