What do people recommend to prevent fleas on Tilly? shes 4 or 5 months old. I know there are drops but i've heard some bad things about them? And that flea collars aren't much use? Any advice about what works for you would be welcome!

I use Frontline on my dogs, and it seems to work well. Your vet would be the best person to ask, though. :)

I use Frontline to prevent fleas AND ticks (lots of ticks around here) ...I think some dogs have had a bad reaction from it , resulting in *hot-spots* but Ive never had a problem

is frontline the stuff that lasts several weeks? In the little tubes?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 11.04.03 09:15 UTC
I've only used a pump-spray (non-aerosol).

Yes , you get it from the Vets ...for tick AND flea prevention you use it every month , but for just flea protection you use it every other month I think ...

It's a lot cheaper in France, though, and can be bought in petshops. We buy it when we do a booze-cruise. Trouble is, the instructions are in French! I think it lasts between 60 and 90 days for fleas and 30 days for ticks - if my O-level French is still functioning. :)

hehe! Booze cruise! I'll check frontline out then. Shes still not allowed out yet but i want to use it before she is.

may not work for some dogs but garlic tablets keep the fleas off mine he hasnt had fleas for years and i know its hard to believe but its true he is 9 yrs old now hasnt had them since he was around 6 i swear by them occasionally i use frontline just as an extra precaution

We do the garlic tablet thing too. One a day with his breakfast - no fleas but smelly breath for a few minutes!! :-)

What doseage of Garlic Tablets do you use? I'd be interested in using them on my Dynamic Duo.
Also, are they any good for ticks??? Yes I know, I don't want much do I :D :D

I don't think that Garlic tablets are any good for ticks, mind you so far we haven't had any on Os (touch wood :-) ) and we live in the countryside so maybe .....

We give him one tablet every morning with his breakfast, we get the normal dose ones from Petsmart and they seem to be doing the trick. I really like the idea as it is completely natural but also improves the condition of his coat.
