Wheatens are medium sized dogs (18-19 inches at shoulder) and have a fairly heavy non-shedding coat that requires regular grooming.
They are indeed good family dogs and are good with children. However, the terrier instinct in them means that they like to chase anything that moves....and that sometimes includes cats!
If you get in touch with the secretary of the S.C.W.T.C. she will be able to give you the name of someone in your area that would be happy for you to visit and see their Wheaten.

currently visiting a house with a soft coated wheaten terrier - really nice dog, but its coat needs grooming regularly...as it is a nervous dog (not insinuating breed type) they have to clip it regularly at the vets. doesn't shed hair so great if have allergies...medium sized dog, lots of energy!! Does follow terrier type, but i've succumbed to its charms! Check out the breeder websites for pictures and breed info...
