I was wondering the breeds of some dogs in film and need some help! The first film is fluke. I have found out that the dog who 'plays' fluke is a golden retreiver which was dyed brown to look like a mongrel. The other dog in this film is called rumbo who looks similar to a bernese mountain dog? is this the correct breed?

The other film is Homewardbound 2:lost in san fransisco. The dog in question is Riley who is brown but has an unusual yellow face. Can anyone help me?

Does anyone have a fave doggy film?

Thanks

There was a film that was shown during the holidays when I was about 15, called 'Where the red fern grows'. It was about a young lad who had coonhounds, the saying went something like "Where there is true loyalty and love let a red fern grow". I think one of the hounds was killed by a wild cat and the other died trying to help, this was sad enough, but they showed the dogs graves later and a red fern was growing between them. taht was it ... blub ...

That is the gist of it, I would love to get a copy of it to see if it is as good as I remember

Is Homeward Bound 2 as good as the first one?

The sequel is a typical style disney family film. The dogs are beautiful especially the dog which plays chance and not forgeting the cat! There are a few worrying scences of dog fighting but the film was overseen by the AHA.

Hello, My all time favorite dog movie is still Old Yellar. My next favorite has to be Turner and Hooch. I now have a Dogue de Bordeaux and he is smart, well behaved, and loves everyone in the family. I am glad that my "Hooch" dog is not as destructive as the one in the movie !!!

Of course my favorite dog film is "Turner and Hooch" hence me having Dogues :-)
Thing is they do not slobber as much as the film showed!!! ha ha

Actully Staffie, that was what happened in Where the red fern grows, the second dog pined away, I wonder if it was the same film, and the name was changed for some reason.

I think my fave doggie show was "The Littlest Hobo" (Is that the right name), the dog who helped someone, then at the end of the episode took to the road to find the next person to help, I remember it had a catchy song and it is really annoying me that I can't remember how it goes!

Mad Max is my fave film with a dog in it as it is an Australian Cattle Dog, just what we are hoping to get! And Mel Gibson, just happens to be an added bonus!!! :D

I can remember the song now, I expect I'll be singing it all night now, but at least it's better than singing the theme tune from the Fimbles!

There's a voice, keeps on calling meeeeee, down the road, that's where I'll always beeeee,
Every step I take, I make a new friend,
Cant stay for long, just turn around and I'm gowwwwn again,
Maybe tomorrow I'll wanna settle down (dooo doo doo)
Until tomorrow, I'll just keep moving on....

Ok, now I've proved how old I am.. *sigh*

My favourite doggy film is Disney's Nikki - Wild Dog of the North. It won't surprise many of you when I say it stars a Malamute! It also explains why my second Mal was called Nikki as well :D

One of the reasons I really like The Lost Boys (besides a young Keifer Sutherland ;) ) is that it has a lovely mal in it :)

I don't watch doggy films anymore (eversince watching 'The Incredible Journey' when I was little) as there is always one that dies or looks as though it is going to die but then doesn't so I always end up crying. The last film I watched was 'Cats and Dogs'. It was a kids film so I thought I would be alright. Then came the end when it looked like the beagle had died, that was it...... I started crying didn't stop until the end.

Rumbo was played by Barney, who is the son of the dog from Empty Nest named Dreyfus. Dreyfus was a St. Bernard/ Retriever mix. Not sure who the mother was. But Comet played the Golden in both movies.
