Why or why do people who are going under the legal limit on a 60mph road panic brake when they see a speed, er sorry, revenue camera on the road. Today a driver doing about 50 seen the camera and braked hard to under 30. I was never going to run into him/her, but was so annoyed. What made it worse they stayed at 30 for the next mile, it was pointless overtaking as I had to turn off. Really stupid driving.
I suppose it's that same guilty conscience as when you see a police car - not that I have anything to be guilty about, honest!!! :D
My pet hate is people , often of a senior persuasion, driving at 40-50 MPH on the motorway, they are more dangerous than the speeders, there should be a lower limit!

The ones I hate on the motorway are the "CLODs" - Centre Lane Owner-Drivers.

They cause so much hassle - why don't they use the nice empty inside lane when they're not overtaking anything!!!!
Was the camera there because of a change in the speed limit ? It seems unusual for one to be placed alongside a road for no apparent reason.

The road that the camera was on has the national speed limit applied for a single carriage way road, ie, 60mph, it has always been so. The reason for the camera being there was to raise revenue. It is not an accident blackspot. The road in question is one of the main roads through the Brecon Beacons and it's funny how the cameras always seem to be there on sunny days when there are plenty of tourists around. More and more police forces are using these cameras to raise revenue to the detriment of other traffic offences. A camera cannot catch the drunk or drugged driver, the tailgater, or a car that is simply to dangerous to be on the road. The only way to deal with these offences is to have more mobile units, not less as is being the case in many force areas. Don't get me wrong, I am not against cameras in built up areas or outside schools, people who speed there deserve all they get, but on open roads and motorways, come on! The police harp on and point out that road deaths are down because of speed cameras, what they don't tell you is that the system of has been changed. Before, if a drunk pedestrian fell in front of a car and was killed it was classed as a traffic death, now it is called a pedestrian death, hence a large fall in statistics. I was in the fire service and attended the very worse of traffic accidents, very few were speed related, most were driver error, turning right at junctions a favourite and drunk drivers. I was also trained in high speed driving and think that cameras on open roads and motorways are a danger.

Speed cameras are revenue generators. Simple as that.

I agree with you totally, but what about the people that drive 30 in a 40 limit and then drive 40 in a 30 limit.I have a big old Range Rover and over taking is quite an effort but don't these people bug you. Also people that don't signal at round abouts, now I pull out just abit to scare um and then when they give you a B********* just say "when your car came from the factory it had a little staked installed to let other road users know where you are going" then see what they have to say.Oh and ban all cameras and get on with catching some real criminals.

I don't drive , but living in Lincolnshire I ger driven everywhere ;) Most of the roads hereabouts are 60mph except for the Villages ...the times we are stuck behind someone who does 50 no matter WHERE they are ...50 in a 60mph limit and then 50 in a 30mph limit GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
