I have a 2 yr old staff and i would like to have her mated but am confused as to the rules and rights with regards to the studs owner...do they have the pick of the litter, where is the best place to mate? etc......thanx
Hi guest
Before you consider mating your bitch please have all the relavent health checks done for her breed then contact her breeder for advice on a suitable stud for your bitch hopefully she can point you in the right direction!
As for stud terms we either take first pick of the litter or 3/4 of the price of a puppy which is payable at the time off mating and is non returnable although a free return service is offered if the bitch isnt in whelp to be honest you really earn you stud fee bitches that come to our dog often board with us and it is a full time Job!
Ive heard off all sorts of stud agreements like taking a percentage of the puppies, paying so much per puppy and many more it really is up to the stud owner but this should be decided between you before any mating takes place
Good luck

as stated is the bitch eye checked and considered a good specimen of the breed firstly.nearly all stud dog owners have the female come to them, the stud fees on staffords are quite reasonable and are usually around £200 (this is what i paid last year for a proven champion dog).the stud fee is paid at time of mating and as stated above if the bitch does not take a repeat is usually given the next season but ask the owner if this is the case beforehand.
