My 8 year old lab has split one of his claws on his lwft front paw.

I took him to the vets and they trimmed it back but not far enough and it is still split.

He is constantly chewing and nibbling at it
Can you think of anything I can do to stop him??????

Hi Rachael,
All I can suggest is that you put a boot on his foot when you can't be there to stop him chewing it. Hopefully in a few days it will have grown enough to be clipped back a bit further. Maybe a painkiller will stop it being so sore and then he will be more likely to leave it alone. Try not to let him get into the habit of chewing/licking it, because it can be very hard to break them of this.

Hope it sorts out soon - I'm sure it's very uncormfortable for him.

A company called "Mikki" sell boots, as well as muzzles, clippers etc etc. Most petshops sell them. :)

Taz split one of his front toe nails inhalf and it bled a bit. We just trimmed what we could and he trimmed the rest himself by chewing it, he always chews his nails.

ttfn :)
