Does anybody know if the temperature would drop if the dog was having a false pregnancy or does that tell us to expect a pup?

I have never had a bitch with a "significant" false pregnancy but according to the "Bible" (the Book of the bitch!) Quote "It is thought that these hormonal changes are in fact triggered by the rising cortisol levels produced by developing puppies in the uterus. During the few days when this is happening the bitches body temperature will drop".
Taking this as my evidence, it would appear it is the existance of pups that causes the temperature drop and on that basis I would suggest that "man the whelping box" may be an appropriate action!

After that first temp drop it went back up. It has come down again since Saturday night and is staying that way ( between 99 and 100), when she goes up she is typically 101.6-102. Since saturday her owner said she started to notice clear to milky thickish drainage from her vulva and has noticed a clumping up. The dog is also being a little mean to her owners grandchildren which she has never done before, she is clingy to her owner and cries. We took her to the vet at day 52(if the first mating is the one we are looking at) she was a new vet and felt around and looked iffy so we did a blood test. The blood test came back negative. We have been watching her anyway because I read that in small litters the blood test could give a false negative. She is a lhaso apso. A week ago her ribs looked wider and the upper part of her abdomen was even with her ribs(usually you could see the end of her rib cage). After the first temp drop her owner noticed the lower part of her abdomen looks a little bigger along with clumping up, now you can see the end of her ribs again. She doesn't look pregnant besides she is getting more milk now within the past 3 days and now the temp is staying down along with the drainage. We have been on this up and down roller coaster for weeks. Does anyone have any advice? If it were a phantom pregnancy would they get this drainage from thier vulva? Her owner also said today she did have some diarrhea. To me this sounds like we are getting real close to a delivery of at least one pup. They mated 3 times with successful ties, how long are lhaso apsos usually pregnant day 70 of the first mating is friday, today is Tuesday.
I would take this bitch to the vet pretty darned quickly thick milky drainage is a very nasty symptom, normal discharge at this stage in a pregnant bitch is clear and stringy.
The temperature drop is only for a matter of 24 hours at the most and whelping should occur within than 24 hours. A low temperature since Saturday may be a sub-normal temperature pointing to an severe infection.
If she is now on day 67 that means she is 4 days over her due date, and if by any chance she is pregnant with only one puppy could mean that there are not enough hormones to get her started into labour.
Take her to the vet and ask for either an x-ray or scan to determine if she is in fact pregnant, if not then get the vet to take a blood test to check for white blood cell count, as to be honest it sounds to me as if she has quite a severe infection.
