Anybody out there who find themselves owned by a gordon setter?
Bess is 3 mths old and seems to be out thinking us in most things. She is house trained by way of a crate. However she seems to know just what to do to gain our attention every waking hour - usually chewing stones, plants and us! Bess has various toys and chews but obviously they don't have the same appeal. Soon she will be able to go for walks perhaps that will satisfy some of her curiosity. We would love to hear from other Gordon Setter owners for any hints p
pertaining to this breed.

Thanks Francis - now have all details of breed clubs from a search on this site. Breeder of our vandal - Mrs. Judith Brown from near Annan in Scotland. Bess's daddy came from the Diptonia kennels.

HI Sandy,

I have a 41/2 month old Gordon Bitch. As you say they like to get into mischief - my garden is taking most of the hits!

She also has a crate and is very good in it, having naps through the day and sleeping through all night.

She loves stones, seems to be a setter trait as my husband had irish as a kid and his dad has a gordon and they all do it.

Does yours sit down with it's backside on the sofa?

Favourite toys are plush puppies (just bought a new one from a card shop at the weekend as her others are getting too small!), pop bottles and margarine cartons!

She has very short walks on the grass outside our house, enjoys chasing birds and saying hello to anyone in the street especially if they are in a car - she think's she can get a ride to her puppy party with them!

But she is so beautiful I wouldn't change her for the world.

I love coming home to a doggy welcome!

Sorry to be so long with a reply - I've just worked out what to do! Just like to say that our Bess loves to pretend she has joined Ground Force and cannot understand why we do not want our garden landscaped. She also likes plastic bottles, flowerpots and furry monsters. She has just been allowed in the sitting room - oh boy another problem - barking at the TV. As for sitting on the sofa, we are making a stand against that (joke?) She starts school on 8th May which should be fun. Great to hear about a Gordon - don't seem to be many about.

Great to hear from you.

Skye went on her first proper car journey this Easter - In her cage in the boot of a very large estate (hired for the occasion)

We went up to Scotland to visit a friend which was a 6.5 hour journey from London. She was slightly ill on the way up in the first half an hour but soon got used to it thankfully.

She loved Scotland with the fields and fresh air and so did we!

I'm hopefully going to buy some turf this weekend to try and patch up the gardening she has done :-)

Hi,

My name's Luc,I'm living in Belgium and I'm looking for a setter gordon setter puppie ( preference for a male ).Do you have puppie available ? What would be the price? Where are you located in England? Is there any administrative " obligation " to cross the border with a puppie?
I really enjoy setter gordon but it's quite difficult to find one in Belgium
Well, I hope to hear from you soon.

Luc,

I am not a breeder. I suggest you look through the Champdogs pages to locate breeders and then find out if they have any puppies available.

Also worthwhile searching for Belgium breeders and Gordon societies for help.

Cheers,

Heidi
