Please can you advise I have a 18 mmonth old balck brinde staffordshire bull terrier who has just recently started eating grass for no apparent reason. He doesnt do it in the winter and now only cause the suns out which he loves. Please can somebody advise why he does it. P.s it doesnt even make him sick. You know the saying dogs eat grass cause they have a upset tummy, this is not the case. Joanne

Hi Joanne,
I reckon they eat the grass because they like it!! Mine all do, and it doesn't make them sick. Maybe they know that when it starts growing in the spring its full of vitamins and minerals. They are particularly fond of the young winter wheat which is coming up now - it's like walking a flock of sheep through the field! All you have to take care about is that it isn't contaminated by traffic (if it's at the side of the road) or sprayed with weedkiller or chemical fertilisers.

Hope this helps. :)

Know the same feeling but always thought of my lot as cattle grazing!
