My 12month old f/c keeps rubbing her chin; either on the floor, or one of her front paws:(
A few months ago she had a growth removed from her chin; it's held up very well, and I've not seen any occurance of a new growth. or any other irritant.

Any ideas as to what this could be???

Difficult to say without seeing her, but check for obvious things first - they can sometimes get a bit of bone or similar stuck between the top teeth, and this can cause pawing at the jaw.

I've checked for that and it's all clear. At first I thought it could be itchy as it was healing, but the scar is virtually invisible now; but she still keeps rubbing her chin :(
Best I get her checked out at the Vets in case it's anything sinister :(

Without seeing her it is impossible to tell, but I had a similar experience with one of my dogs. I found he would rub his chin on the floor and on his legs when he "doggie acne", he would also do this when stung by nettles if he had been hunting round in rough grass. I assume both things made his chin itch.

Really though it is best to get anything that worries you, checked out by a vet, if you didn't and it was something serious developing you would never forgive yourself, so best thing is look silly and embarassed rather than mess about too long.

I hadn't thought about it being scar tissue, but I'm taking her to the Vets to get it checked out. I totally agree, it's not worth messing around....just in case.

Thought I'd let you know, took Libby to the vets today. It was rather laughable as the poor Vet and myself struggled with 'Loony tunes' Libby while he gave her a thorough check over :D
He feels it's possibly blocked follicles/doggie acne :( but nothing more serious...Thank Heavens !!!

After a wrestling match, both of us on the floor, Libby kissing all and sundry liberally; he managed to give her an injection of Dexadreson, not a happy f/c :(
Got Marbocyl tablets to give her over the next 12 days, with instructions to bathe her chin (now that should be entertaining :D) twice daily. The vet also relieved me of almost £100; I'm convinced it would have been cheaper if she hadn't kissed him!!

Glad to hear it is not serious. Like I said I have had a dog go mad with his itchy chin and that was acne! It will in time go away on it's own, but sometimes it needs a little help.
