Topic Dog Boards / Health / Greenish discharge- HELP!
- By JackyandSydney [gb] Date 07.04.03 09:56 UTC
Can any body advise me about my puppy. I noticed yesterday that he has a greenish discharge from his sheath(think thats what its called on a dog). He is weeing with no problems and doesnt lick it excessivly or show any discomfort. I have bathed with dettol. Couldnt get to the vets yerterday (closed) but as they are expensive I wondered if anybody has had this problem with their male pup/dog and it cleard on its own accord.

edited.. Just did a search and notice that somebody else's pup had the same problem and they were advised it was normal for a male pup. Ill keep an eye on it and hopefully it will go away. Any other suggestions...?

Hi Jacky,
I wouldn't worry - males do have a bit of discharge from the sheath, it's quite normal. Only get concerned if it gets excessive and/or smelly, by which time it'll be bothering him. Once they get a bit older they seem to enjoy cleaning themselves....but that's another story! :)

Thanks. I must admit I was a bit worried., but as he didnt seem worried when I bathed it or he didnt clean himself overly thought it might be normal. But not having owned a male dog since I was a kid (and those things didnt get noticed by me) I wasnt sure. Ill watch it if any change I shall whip him off to the vets. Thanks again
