Hi All
We are going away for a couple of days soon, and taking our 3 cavaliers. As they are used to having the run of the garden at home, and the place we are going to hasn't got fences/boundaries outside accomodation,(it's in a forest setting), we are thinking of getting a couple of tethers, so that we can let them have a sniff around outside (with us there of course!), without having to be put on leads all the time. I see they sell safety tethers, which don't tangle or allow dog to get caught up on lead. They have a sort of pole sticking up, which rotates, and keeps the 18ft retractable lead away from the dogs feet etc.
Has anyone tried them, cos they are quite expensive and I'd like to know if they work!
A friend who goes camping with her dogs, has tried the ordinary corkscrew type stakes in the ground, and said she spends most of her time trying to untangle the dogs!
Advice Anyone ??
Thanks
Sam
I don't know if this is any help. A friend of mine with a Flatcoat used the corkscrew type to tether him close by when he was younger whilst we were working - no-one had any experiences of tethering and she felt it was OK as she was only a few feet away.
Someone threw a toy for their dog, and the Flattie just surged forwards and pulled the corkscrew out of the ground.....

It had been screwed in properly as well, she just couldn't believe it and never used one again. (She has taught him to Stay now ;) ). So I am sure that they will be OK with Cavalier tupe dogs but i would'nt leave the dogs alone even for a few minutes.
Have a great holiday :)
