we have a 4yr old male airedale (castrated), yesterday we got a 3yr female giant schnauzer (spade), how do we go about them getting on together, they have had a few spats (nothing too bad), it starts usually from the female, shall we just let them sort it out for themselves, is there anything we should be doing, we kept them in seperate rooms last night and feeding them seperately,
also the schnauzer seems to have a pronounced pointy skull, boney. the airedale has one but is flatter, is this normal?
any help would be appreciated.

many thanks, jackie

what are they like when you take them for a walk together.

I always find even when friends are coming to stay with dogs even if they know them, we meet somewhere first and go for a walk that gets the initial 'who are you' excitement over and when we get home its as though they have been together for ages.

Did you separate them because of the problems or are they usually apart and how do the spats start?
