Has any one had any experiences of ruptured anal glands?

One of our BC's has got one. I feel really guilty for not spotting it before it ruptured, but she didn't give off any of the "normal" full anal gland signs. She is on antibiotics and anti inflammatory tablets, and has to go back next week (unless we're not happy with her). If this doesn't clear the area up she will have to go in to have it flushed out. I'm also bathing it in Aloe Vera Vet. Spray, and using a homeopathy remedy - Silicea.

Not sure if it is the same as a ruptured gland but one of my dogs got an abcess on an anal gland last year when her puppies were about 10 weeks old. It blew up remarkably quickly, I was working nights and she was fine when I got in from work in the morning, when I got up about 5 hours later she was obviously uncomfortable and I spotted the abcess and bathed it in salt water. 2 hours later when I bathed it again it burst, rather a mess but she was obviously more comfortable after it burst. This was a Sunday so I took her to the vet on Monday and she was put on antibiotics and I kept on bathing it. She was over it within a few days and has had no repetition of it.

Don't feel guilty about not spotting it, they really can blow up in a matter of hours.
