Does anybody know whether or not the dog which starred in "As Good As It Gets" (Helen Hunt & Jack Nicholson) is an Affenpinscher? I have looked through dog books and the closest I could get to what the dog was is an Affenpinscher. I am looking for a new dog, preferably a toy breed, and I flipped over that little dog in the movie. I recently had the misfortune of euthanizing my little tiny toy poodle. He was 15 years old and I had to feed him with an eye dropper the first two weeks of his life. (his mother wouldn't take care of him) The breeder even said he wouldn't live -- but he outlived his siblings!! Needless to say, I really miss my small dog and am looking for another pet.

Definitely NOT an Affenpinscher. It was a Griffon Bruxellois (or Brussels Griffon) depending which side of the Atlantic you come from. If you are interested in one I would suggest you don't mention the film to the breeder, the Americans blame it for the very great increase of Griffs in rescue in the States, and also the increase in numbers produced over there in Puppy Mills.

Incidentally the dogs used in the film (2 of them from the same litter) were bred in the UK and exported because the producer wanted dogs without cropped ears.

Sorry to hear you have lost your dog recently.
