Good , Bad or indifferent . Would value opinions of people who have actually tried methods successfully or failed not just opinions they have read.

Excellent - particularly as we have two dogs and so I could go to bed at night knowing that the pup was safe and when I was working a couple of mornings a week. Also, our kitchen would have been like a bomb site, when pup was chewing everything in sight, if we didn't have a crate. A must for the car as well. Didn't need to use it in the house after about 7 months. Would never have another pup without one :)

I use one for my current affie and did for my previous ones...fantastic, they love their little den! wherever their crate is , they are happy, on holiday in hotels, visiting friends overnight.....at home, at shows.....

Hi Richard
we have a crate for pup (he's 5 months now) . We have it in the living room with us and he pops in and out during the day - he has his toys in there :).
We never close the door on it and he doesnt use it at night . We bought it for use in the car and because we may show and also for him to have his own "space" . When he wants a bit of peace or a kip he can go in there . We dont close him in when we go out either as he isnt a "chewy" pup ( and fingers crossed will stay that way) :)
It really depends what you want a crate for or what ideas you have with regards to bringing pup up .Also whether pup is destructive - as some are or maybe you have more than one dog and may need to seperate them at times
Some people will say they are great - others hate the idea . I posted the same question before I bought our crate . You will know what feels right for you .

Do a search on crate training on the site and you'll find tons of stuff - including my reply from a while ago. I fought the idea at first, but now would never have a puppy without one, esp. for the safety of the puppy!
