Not me :D
- By Malakai [gb] Date 01.04.03 14:56 UTC
Nope - went to Wales last year and Jeff said never again, too far :( (Plus, it's on my birthday)
Joan :)
- By Jean [gb] Date 01.04.03 15:06 UTC
I'm not going either. Maybe the Welsh KC show later this year, but have become lazy in my dotage and am thinking of a very early start and a 4 hour drive each way and shuddering. I love the showground though and love the scenery. If I can talk/cajole/nag/blackmail hubby into helping out with driving etc., then maybe that show later this year.

I am :D - driving down on the Friday, found a nice B&B for Fri/Sat/Sun and making a weekend of it ....

Not me. The classes are naff. We have no puppy, only junior mixed dogs and bitches. And my argument there, is how can a little 6month old bitch compete with an 18 month old male? It can't. I think the PG is mixed as well and they only separate the sexes for the open.Like I said...naff. And Builth Wells, is a very nice place but awful to get to. All those winding welsh roads...ughh, makes me feel ill just thinking about it. Are you entered Jay?
- By Jaytungsvik [gb] Date 01.04.03 16:18 UTC
yes, we're mainly going for the weekend, camping friday, saturday and then heading back sunday. Nice break since its easter weekend.

Freyas entered in Junior and rare breeds puppy... i think.

We were in your neck of the woods on Friday, went to Chester and came back via Wellington to say happy birthday to a friend. Saw a man walking a Mal not far from the Maxell Factory.

Jay
- By maid marian [gb] Date 01.04.03 19:57 UTC
Ahh the Maxell factory, how scenic ;) Mind you its on the way to Apley woods so it could have been Ian I suppose. Good luck in Builth Jay :) You'll have a lovely time camping in Wales. I love Wales but all those up and downs and bendy roads make me feel very car sick:)
- By bob [gb] Date 01.04.03 20:24 UTC
Where about in wales is builth wells? Is the show on just one day or is it spread over two? What day is it on?

Alison
Edited: Just noticed 19th April is that a friday?

Alison,
To get to Builth Wells from wakey, go M62 to Manchester, turn south and go for about an hour until you find the longest, windiest road you've ever seen and keep going to South Wales. You will have ample opportunity to meet and get to know the driver of the slowest car on British roads which will be placed just in front of you. If you're lucky, you'll get to overtake and then get to meet the driver of Britain's slowest lorry!
I think the show's over two days, and the 19th is Saturday ;) The day before Easter Sunday.
Joan :)
Edited to say it takes about 4 1/2 hours, it takes less time to go to Edinburgh!
- By bob [gb] Date 01.04.03 22:34 UTC
Thank Joan
My aunty lives about an hour away so I just might have a weekend away;) Just wasn't sure if it was north Wales. Joan It takes us that long to go further south than builth wells so I think you've took the long route.

So what day are working being shown? is it 19th Saturday April
What time will showing start? This will be the first show I've been to, If I go, Does anyone know if Neapolitans will be shown?

Alison

Alison,
Next time I consider making the journey, I'll contact you ;) It may well have been the cars we got stuck behind. If you do go, say hello to my brother and sister-in-law, showing their Leos before you Neos :) I only ever see them at dog shows!!!
Joan :)
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 02.04.03 08:09 UTC

HI all
I've got lots of sweet talking to do now to my hubby, and if he says no I'll be a widow:D Right so now I know it's in Builth Wells ( but whereabouts?) If I go I will be travelling north upto Builth Wells, and it will take me an hour from my aunts house. Can someone give me a location for the show.

If we do go I will definitely say hello Marina and to your brother Joan. I'll be asking for descriptions first though:D I'll have to get all my films into photo shop so I can show my babies off! Going to have to buy a digital camera.

Alison

M. did you see post about Kylie's eye?
- By Jaytungsvik [gb] Date 02.04.03 12:20 UTC
its at the Royal Welsh Showground. Builth Wells, Powys.

if you go to the AA or RAC site you can plan a route.

Hi,

Yes, saw that Kylie is going back on Monday, will keep my fingers crossed that's the end of it and she continues to flourish!!

We have same judge for dogs & bitches, so we could arrange to meet up somewhere in the morning, perhaps, or if you have a mobile phone we could exchange numbers ........ if all else fails, will ensure I wear a ring number all day for ID purposes :D

M.

PS - could not be without a digital camera now, buy a decent one to start with or you'll end up upgrading! I bought a reasonable one just for puppies/dogs, as didn't know if I'd use it, but then kept shaking my 'proper' camera because it didn't have a screen on the back to check whether photo was OK!! Once you've used one, you'll never go back to film .....
- By bob [gb] Date 02.04.03 14:58 UTC
Thanks M.

Right hubby has said yes:D Just need to check with my aunt now make sure she's home, They go about in their caravan most weekends so hopefully they won't have anything planned (finger's crossed).

Is this a champ show or open? Makes no difference to me but was just wondering. Talking about cameras now do I need to make sure it's got a screen on back then? How much am I looking at paying for a decent one?

Alison
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 02.04.03 15:07 UTC
Champ show, should be nice for you to have a look around. Hope Aunty's at home :D

Yes, I'd buy a camera with a screen on the back, not sure you'd get one without these days? I have a Fuji Finepix, paid approx. £500 for it although prices are plummeting so will be much cheaper now. Easy to use, and have printed photos up to 8x10 inches with stunning quality. Has various different quality levels to choose from, depending on what you want results for - just to email, to print on a standard printers just to show people, or to get proper photos from. For proper photos, I use Bonusprint's online service, great and quick service.

I started with an Olympus 1.2 megapixel (higher number of megapixels gives better quality, if you're as thick about these things as I am!) - but sold it within approx. 6 months to junk the standard film cameras and buy one that I was confident to use for all purposes.

Will look forward to meeting you at Builth .........

hi,

shows on the saturday, 19th.

Have to break camp and be gone on the sunday by lunchtime.

Marion - mmmm not sure who it was, he was wearing a greyish fleece, and had shortish grey hair.
we were on the road from the princess royal heading into Wellington.

Needed Coffee at Flapjacks (lizas mums Teas rooms)

Jay
- By maid marian [gb] Date 02.04.03 09:23 UTC
Well Ian has got a grey fleece but his hair is predominantly black ( except for a grey quiff at the front ala Dickie Davies :) ) so I don't think it can be him and I can't remember where we went walking on Friday anyway. In any case I would have been there and you would have recognised me instantly from my long gibbon like arms from having Rosie and Jasmine constantly pulling to be the lead dog.
There are no other mals round here so I have a feeling it was the chap from the Shawbirch who has a HUGE and I mean REALLY HUGE husky. When you are going past in a car it could easily be mistaken for a mal. Body wise it is a mal and its only when you get right close up to it can you see the ear set etc that proves its not. Actually there are two of them, both brothers and Floyd does not like them at all. Me I think they are lovely.
- By Boxacrazy [gb] Date 02.04.03 18:10 UTC
I'm going with my Boxer :D
She's in Post Grad, we've got an all-rounder doing our breed Mrs Spavin,
So here's hoping......................
If anyone want to say hi, I'll be wearing purple/lilac and have a tall brindle and white
girl, called Trumist Ain't No Saint.
Best of Luck to anyone that is showing :)

Kindest Regards
Kirstine

- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 03.04.03 16:04 UTC
Two's bad enough, don't fancy doing 3! I'm just hoping weather's not too 'orrid, as will be limited on clean-up facilities in a B&B :D
- By Val [gb] Date 03.04.03 22:47 UTC
See you on Saturday girls!! ;)
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 04.04.03 08:26 UTC
I'll be the one with matchsticks holding my eyes open ......... an early start :)

M.
- By Lily Mc [gb] Date 03.04.03 16:06 UTC
Cheat, you edited whilst I was answering ........

Yes, I'm going to Collie Club of Wales on Saturday, both girls entered. Am also entered for West of England Collie open show on Sunday - seemed a good idea at the time as I love Club shows, now think I must have been mad. Have had a manic week, so if Saturday's too knackering, I'm likely to be a 'no show' on Sunday :D

See you on Saturday,

Marina
- By bob [gb] Date 04.04.03 21:38 UTC
Well my hubby actually said yes (after much persuasion ) and my aunt's not home:( Maybe another time guys:(

Alison
- By Boxacrazy [gb] Date 03.04.03 21:01 UTC
Hi Marina
Yes hopefully MS will still like Abby,
She shortlisted us in a big junior stakes class at a Ch show and binned other Boxers :D
But that's not to say she will like what Abby's grown into :D
Hope you have a good day and I'll look out for you!

Kind Regards
Kirstine :)
