hi i have a 15 week old cairn terrier who is crazy, he will not take no for an answer, he really is not intrested in anything we want to teach him it is becoming a bit tiring, if only we could see the slightest breakthrough it would help.
we have a 4 year old daughter who he eats the legs off of and sit and climbs on her everytime she is eating, we have started putting him outside the room when she is eating,
will he eventually calm down he bites all the time and sometimes it is very sore, we try giving him his toys when he bites but he just seems intrested in the flesh.
we try to ignore his bad behaviour and praise his good behaviour, which is few and far between,
i think a lot of the problem is our daughter who runs a lot or gets excited.
will they ever be able to live together without winding one another up.

Hi Guest,
The best thing you can do is buy a copy of "The Perfect Puppy" by Gwen Bailey. It is very well written and easy to understand, and explains many aspects of dog behaviour - and how to redirect the normal behaviours that we don't like!

You're doing the right thing not having the puppy in the room during meals - once they learn to scrounge they become a right pain!

Until you get a copy of the book, ensure your daughter and the puppy stay calm when they are together - no rough games, because the pup will certainly become overexcited.

Good luck :)
