Hey,

My wife and I currently have a 2 year old bearded collie and are thinking about getting a second dog. My wife would like to have a smaller breed that would be a lap dog of sorts, but we both want a breed that is compatable with the bearded collie. If anyone has any ideas or experiences we would be very happy to hear them.

Thanks,

Hi
Have you considered Shetland Sheepdogs?

I've got a Bearded Collie and a cocker spaniel and they get on really well. My Cocker is a 15mths old and the beardie is nearly 4mths old so it's the other way round to your situation.

The cocker is a lovely, friendly breed that likes nothing better than sitting on your knee for a cuddle but can keep up with the excercise levels of a beardie without any problems.

Good luck with choosing a new puppy,

Fiona

Also, King Charles Spaniels are very friendly and get on really well with other dogs in the home, and are small enough to sit on everyones lap :)

Have you considered a Lowchen ? Without the show trim, they look just like miniature Beardies. They are very affectionate, love to sit on your lap, but also love good walks and games.
My two get on well with other breeds.
