Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / Raising two male toy dogs together

Hey there, I have a question. Would it be alright to raise two male puppies (Maltese & Yorkies) under one roof without them fighting? If they're both fixed before they're brought home (we're getting the Yorkie about a month before the Maltese), would they still fight for dominance?

Thanks

How old are these puppies? Many people keep two entire males in the house without them fighting. One is likely to be dominant, and if that is reinforced there should be little problem. You wouldn't want to have a dog castrated before it's about 9 months old anyway.

Agreed , re castration
Also why dont you see how they got on before thinking the worst
puppies love to play and they should enjoy each others company so before making any decision my advice is to wait and see

If they do end up scrapping I would consider getting just the one castrated (the more submissive one). This will increase the dominance gap between them even more and should stop any scraps. If you castrate both they will still be on an equal footing.
