Topic Dog Boards / Showing / Dog Shows In May/June?
- By kazz Date 28.03.03 00:12 UTC
Hello,

Does anyone know of any dog shows being held in the Birmingham or surronding area in May/June.

I have a stafford pup who will be 6 months old start of May and would like to take her to some local mixed dog shows to get her used to the idea.

Thanks

If you get the dog press i.e.
Dog World & Our Dogs you will be spoiled for choice in that area of the country

I also have a staff puppy which I may show. He will be six months old the end of June, I have been to a local show - (mind you it was Great Danes!) just to see what they were like, and it did look good fun for owners and dogs - staffies love to show off anyway!!! But G.D's are so laid back, I did not hear one bark for three hours while we were there...

I would love to be able to meet up with someone at the shows - Have you shown before??

E-mail me at work to let me know.

Stafford breed shows are the complte opposite - think of the noise of one dog barking for 3 hours non stop and then quadruple it! Are you thinking of showing your pup also? Or just want to go and have a squis?

You can check out the show diary here for any that will be close to you through out the year - limit, open and champ!

Bo'son will be six months old the end of July. Still not sure about showing him as he does not have any champions in his parentage, but will have to wait and see, it was only for a hobby for both of us. If we do go ahead I live in Northamtponshire so I will try for shows that are central england. I know Karen is from Birmingham which is not too far.

He is red, with a white chest and paws. His was a golden colour when we got him but this is darkening and his ears are going darker too.

He starts puppy classes in a fortnight so will get to see other doggies- that will be fun!!

It would be great to have some friends in the same situation with starting out!

Let me know if you are going to any shows, and I will arrange a sitter for Bo'son and met up with you.

Hi, There are many shows held at the Sky Blue Connection at Ryton, near Coventry. If you get either 'Dog World' or 'Our Dogs' weekly newspapers they will be listed.

I'm in the Stratford/Leamington area so this is local to me. :)

Hi Bo Son
like Karen I'm also new to the Staffy showing circles, although we hope to begin at the beginning of May (and its quite scary and exciting at the same time ).
Because a dog doesnt have champions in its background does not mean that it will never get anywhere in the show world .
Champions dont always breed champions .
Gus is six months at the end of April and he is black brindle with a white chest .
The three of us will have to arrange to meet and support each other when we all start . We can learn together :)
I'm in the North West by the way so theres not so many shows down this way but i will be travelling down to Derby , Stoke areas and any others nearby.
If you need any advice feel free to e-mail me :)

Hi both,

See Bo'sun I told you most show people with Stafford's are friendly.

Sal as Lel knows is Black and she is 6 months May. So we might start out in June but, I am going to make an effort to get to Gus and Lel's first show. In a supporting role and chief-cheerleader in the "We support Gus section" and when he wins I'll be there to help carry Lel from of the ring when she passes out from ecstasy! LOL Lel.

IT'S ALL FUN ISN'T IT.

You and your dog both make friends and your dog is with you. What could be better!!!!!

There is a championship show soon I think, I will have to check when and where but I think in May.
Interested ladies.

Karen
I have just filled in the forms for Gus to enter two shows ( o my nerves !!! :) )
they are not SBT shows but I want to get him used to the fuss before we enter those . If he makes a show of us at least no one will know us there lol
The first is for Liverpool Terrier Club on 11 May and the next is the following week for Crewe & District Canine Association on 18 May and I am petrified already . :D
I have yet to attend a championship show and am looking forward to it - will have to check on the dates and locations . Is the East Mids show in Molten Mowbray ?
Gus's brother goes to his first show in M.Mowbray so it will be interesting to see how he does.
Where has all the time gone ?
What happened to my little black sweet puppy ? someone has replaced him with a giant black devil puppy :D

Lel & Karen and now Debbie - its like the three musketeers - 'all for one and one for all' lol.....

I have been to Connexions at Ryton, in fact its only 20 minutes up the road so I am going to pop in every couple of weeks to have a 'nose round'.... So if anyones going to be there let me know the name of your doggie and I will look out for you and cheer you on!!!
