Topic Dog Boards / Showing / GSD - Bathing?
- By Lisa-safftash [gb] Date 27.03.03 21:55 UTC
Hi all,

A quick question,

Do you bathe your dogs before a show? If so, how long before, and do any of you have recommendations as to which shampoo to use?

Thanks.

If you really need to bath a shep, at least 3 days before the show, to allow the coat to settle, I would rather freshen the coat with a towel bath, I only bath or should I say shower my sheps when they are losing there coat, in order to get all the loose coat out, I use head and shoulders for this, normally I use a dog shampoo, but if they are flaky and dusty, then I use head and shoulders.

Hi Lisa

I usually bath mine a couple of days before a show if he really needs it with deznadog shampoo (black formula) as he goes really wooly if he is moulting, just to freshen him up and get an ultimate shine and perfume smell i use anti tangle spray by johnsons, everybody comments on his coat its fantastic stuff to use, also a shammy leather does wonders, there you go you now have all my secrets to the perfect gsd coat:D

Hi Lisa
As charm and metpol have said, give it a couple of days before a show or the coat is all floaty :) mine get showered in Pantenne :D, Although when i do pups they're done in baby shampoo so there's no tears..:)
