Is it possible to breed a golden lab with a chocolate lab

Hi guest I may get a telling of for this or it may seem rude but the truth is if you don't know then you have not done enough research. Contact the breed club and ask them for some support and help. Labs need various tests done before you even think about breeding , eyes, hip scores etc.

There are some experienced Lab people on the board but I would suggest you do some homework.

Hi, its possible to breed any dog with any dog!! However a yellowxchocolate mating may produce mis marks - poor chocolate colour/pigment. Not really advisable unless you particularly want puppies from this mating for reasons other than colour. By the way "golden" is the term for Golden Retrievers and labs are always called yellow.
If you are thinking of breeding please search through this site for lots of information about essential health tests ( hip scoring/eye testing etc) which really must be done well before mating and with good results, or you may have BIG problems with the new owners of resulting puppies taking legal action if they have bought a puppy that turns out to be displastic or blind. Courts almost always find in favour of the new owner and it can cost thousands. Joining the Labrador Retriever club will give you loads of info, and the "Book of the Bitch" by Kay white and Jim Evans is essential reading for anyone thinking of breeding a litter.
