Topic Dog Boards / Health / Is my dog-walker over exercising my pup?
- By kingasad [us] Date 27.03.03 02:01 UTC
I have a 8 month old female boxer. I was told by my vet and others on the board not to start running w/ my pup until she is 12-18 months old. Which is fine.

BUT, my dog-walker recently began to keep my pup out for long periods, 3-4 hours, w/ 1-2 hours of playing in the dog park w/ other dogs and the other 1-2 hours driving in the car.

That sounds like alot to me. I'm considering getting a new dog-walker. What do you think?

My vet says its fine, because my pup will rest when it is tired. But if I know her, she will never stop playing. She seems to sleep alot more in the evenings. Is that good or bad? Does that just mean she's had a good day or does that mean she's exhausted? She used to have more energy and want to play some.

Please help.

It does sound rather a lot - but if you like this dog walker why do you have to change? Why don't you just set the rules and tell her what you want?
