Hello - can anyone give me some advice for my 18 month collie cross who attacks the post. We have been told by one person to ask the postman to drop biscuits through the door but were also told that this may encourage the dog to eat the post. The dog is also unfriendly towards the postman when out in the street. Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I think this largely depends on co-operation from the poor postie! A postwoman in our village would have treats for all the dogs on her route, and even the 'nasty' dogs would look forward to her turning up! But she did have a lot of her own dogsetc, so this made it eaiser....... :)

Get a lockable metal postbox and attach it to a wall and ask the postman to put your mail there? It's a cop-out I know, but it will save chewed mail.

We don't have a letter box and the postie leaves it in the porch. No chewed mail, but it doesn't stop our collie going nuts when he arrives. If we let her out, she ignores him and jumps into his van!

hi, or you you get a wire mesh box thingy that goes on the inside of the door and the post drops into it? Dont know what they're called but a good hardware/DIY shop should have them.

Have know a dog loose a tooth on one of them, if memory serves, think it was a Westie. JH
