Hi All
On another thread somewhere I told you of the lump Bob has developed in his ear. Well after a week of anti-inflammatories and two weeks of steroids it still hasn't gone. Been back to vet's today and it has been diagnosed as hyemia cytoma(sp) exlained to me as a skin tumour. The vet told me not to worry, and has prescribed another ten days of steroids but if it doesn't go they will have to remove it.

Now I am trying not to worry, but the word TUMOUR is the only thing going through my mind. Has anyone ever experienced this and is there no need to worry, can someone please put my mind at rest.

Hi Alison

I had a skin tumour cut out of one of mine a couple of years ago. It was tested benign and nothing to worry about. I've had no further problems. I remember the vet at the time saying that most of the skin tumours turn out to be benign. I'd prefer to have it removed so that there is no possibility of any changes in it.

Hi Alison
Don't forget the word tumour only means growth.
What sort of tumour is the problem, benign or malignant.
With any luck it will go down, might not go away completely.
Is it actually in the ear itself or on the flap, inside or outside?
Sorry can't remember what breed Bob is.
Over the years various of my dogs have developed lumps of various sorts, most benign, most left alone, some removed.
Try not to worry too much and hope all goes well with Bob.

Thanks to both of you for replying:)

The growth is inside the ear, just inside the main ear bit,(sorry hard to explain)but still on the flap.
He is a dobe.

I've got Kylie in aswell on Monday, having her eye done. Definitely going to be a quiet day for me, both dogs going in together:(

Oh that's awful, when they're both in at the same time. When I've had to do that, the house is so empty! :(
But it's lovely when they come home again! :)
Good luck for Monday.

Alison,
You're having your share of bad luck aren't you! I'd pop over, but Kai's off for hip scoring on Monday. Well, I hope everything goes okay for you, Kylie and Bob.
Joan :)
PS Any decision made yet?
