Im very new to this all! I have a dogue de bordeaux that has just been mated, hopefully a success - but im getting mixed views on when i should advertise the puppies, some say while my bitch is pregnant, others say when the pups are about 6 weeks old - obvioulsy i dont want to count my chickens, but then again, i dont want to be left with X amount of pups when they should have been homed? any ideas?

I usually have a waiting list as long as my arm so I contact all the people on my list to let them know when my bitch is pregnant(around week 5).That way I find out who's still interested and who has found a pup elsewhere. Then if there are any pups left after that I adverise the option to book when they are born.I prefer to do it this way as all new owners can see pictures of the puppies via the net as they grow. Each new buyer then has plenty of time to make arrangements to come and see the pups several times before they are old enough to go.I realise this doesn't suit everyone but I like to get to meet all my new buyers at least twice before they buy and there isn't an opportunity to do that if you leave your first advertisement to the last minute.
