Has anyone found that giving their dogs raw bones caused diarrohea? My GSD has a bad case today, I have not fed him anything different so assume it must be the raw bones I have been giving him, wierd thing is he's been getting them regularly now for the past month and this is the first time he's had the runs. Should I switch to the roasted bones, I was giving these for a while but got concerned about how easily he broke them up.

Hi Bear,

Which raw bones were they?
I know that Murphy had a runny tummy on turkey neck and sometimes the beef bones can be a bit too fatty.
Live Yoghurt - the type with the bugs in it!:) can help with digesting bones and, so I hear, can Cider Vinegar.

When I give my two new beef bones, I set the timer for 15 minutes and then take them away. The next time I do the same, but then they are all right to chew them all they want :) I found that the beef bones gave the older one the runs if he was allowed to eat a new one for as long as he wanted :)

Yes I had to stop giving one of my GSD's raw marrow bones because it gave him the skitters! I wouldn't feed roasted bones. My lad gets a jumbone chew instead now - he loves them even if they do make him really thirsty afterwards :)
