I have a new rescue pup. She is approx 15 weeks old. she stays in a play pen with paper through the day, as I work. She is left for no longer than four hours at anyone time as i return home at dinner time.
I can stand outside for almost one hour with her suggesting she should go for a wee wee, and she does nothing.. once i return her to the house and place her in the pen, she will pee on the paper.
How can i solve this problem, bearing in mind i need to leave the paper when i am at work?

We had this problem with our lab and to be honest it is harder to house train a pup when you're not there during the day
We removed the paper as soon as we got home. This way there wasnt any paper and she knew she wasnt allowed to go on the carpet so her next best bet was outside.
She picked it up pretty quickly.
WE do have a few accidents but it seems to be working.

How about taking some newspaper out into the garden with you a few times, so she gets used to going outside and associating it with a command?

I have tried taking paper outside and stood with that for 30 mins plus and the minute she comes back in she goes on the paper in her pen.

Do you take out paper that has already been peed on? Then it would have the pee scent on it. Just an idea.

The product is 'Puppy Trainer' and it is made by 8in1 . I have no choice in products as we live in a small town but if you go to a big pet shop and ask for it ... I think they all do the same thing to be honest :)

the idea that Bluebell said was good to take pape with wee on it so she knows the scent..it did not work for me as my dog would do 1mm drip on the paper and that was it she would use another or the floor she would not go near one she had used already ..not sure if they are all like this but mine is...the puppy tainer ..she did not consider wee ?? beats me ???

Actually All.......
I think i am making progress by removing the paper all togther when i'm in the house, & taking her outside after every sleep, meal, playtime etc etc....she seems to be learning the command. Today at dinner time she had her dinner and then went out side herself and wee'd.......and she seems to want to poo outside too. I'm sure there will be many accidents to come ...BUT fingers crossed I'm on my way to success...
Thanks to everyone for there suggestions......

Good for you! Hope the good progress continues, you're obviously doing the right thing! :)
