
No you are n9ot mad. Ringcraft classes (you can get a list of them from KC) are a great place for socialisation which with a Stff is a major advantage to have them have lots of posiotive experiences of other dogs.
Apart form learning to satand nicely, trot on a loose lead, he will get used to a person examining him intimately, including teeth and testicles, whcih will always be useful when you got to the vet.
So even if he doesn't turn into the next Crufts BIS winner, you will have fun getting to know other doggie people, start at Matfches, then progress to Companion dog shows, and then onto Open and Possibly Championship shows.
With Luck there may be someone experienced in Staffs who trains at the club, or at least someone who knows more about how they should be shown, and their finer points.
