Hi, I have just bought a kong to try and stop what has been described as compulsive staring in one of my dogs, this may seem silly but I have put in 3 bonio type biscuits wedged tight but how is the dog going to get them out when I cant. I did buy some kong fillers but there is no way they are going to fit in the kong and they are so hard I cant break them, am I underestimating my dog by thinking he wont be able to get the biscuits out.

I think part of the fun for the dog is the challenge! If it's too easy they get bored again in no time. :)
I tend to put 2 dog cookies in and then pack them with either tinned food, or cheese or peanut butter - that way the dog can work out the soft stuff to get to the goodies. I started by making it relatively easy then finding out what they could and couldn't do - if they can't get it out at all they get frustrated, so they have to know there is a reward at the end.

Markies fit perfectly in to Kongs, they are easy to get in and the dogs need to crush them to get the food out. Keeps mine entertained for ages. (Less messy than penut butter and other cream cheese fillers)

I put cream cheese and broken up dog biscuits in our Kongs. If I know I'm going to be out longer than I usually am then I will put minced beef, garlic and cheese (it smells foul but the dogs love it), I then freeze it and it keeps them busy for ages.

Hiya, ive got two kongs for my 10mth pointer - the standard red one and the kong ball - although most people think kongs are expensive, these are the only two that my dog will play with for any length of time. Dont waste your money on buying the kong fillers (about £2.00 for 4) any pets at home sell the larger bonio, large chocolate bones, etc much cheaper so break them up and wedge them in the kong. Yes you are underestimating your dog if your reckon he will not get them out. Its a great stimulation game and keeps them occupied for a while. Just put one large piece wedged in at a time so he can hear it rattle and smell it and it should keep him content for a while. Flynn has his rebounding off the walls especially if there is cream cheese or chocolate bones inside.

I agree with the above. The Kong is the only toy my dog has not destroyed so far. I fill ours with instant mash (cold of course) and sometimes he has his dinner out of it for a treat (Burns mixed with a little mash). If the Kong is filled with mash and then frozen it keeps him working for hours!
