Hi Saralee, that's pretty normal for dog to tye and (push me pull me) all you had to do is hold her and him so they didn't pull to much. Was you doing this on your own? What type of breed are they. They often can cry as sometimes this may hurt...

Hello Sara, have tried to call you but you're engaged - hopefully someone else is offering support and sympathy. Feel free to call me on 01344 850613 if you need to chat.

Hi S/Lee, how did you seperate them? One of the other`s is trying to ring you so hopefully you are getting help for them & they are OK now.
Christine, Spain.

Hi Sara,
Just been trying to call you but there was no answer - is it all okay now?

Forcing them to seperating wouldn't that cause damage on both dogs? If they are still hurting either way I would take them to the vet to make sure they are both o.k and no damage is done.
To be tied is normal and can last for up to 30 min or so maybe even longer all depends on the dog.
Sure hope they are all o.k
ttfn :)

Yes, can cause major damage to both dogs, most of which would be internal and not visible, so would definitely recommend a swift trip to the vet's for a check up if they were actually forcibly separated - rather a wasted trip to be told all is well, than serious problems later.

I suppose it's possible to break the dog's penile bone by forcibly separating them, isn't it?
How do other breeders 'manage' the tie? In dalmatians it's quite common, particularly when one or other (or both) of the dogs are maidens, for one person to crouch down beside them, arms under the dogs' tummies and hands linked on the other side, to hold them together so that neither can pull away or try to sit down.
Very boring, as it can last over an hour, but safer for the dogs.

I guess that may be possible. Whilst not wanting to scare the poster, as this may be very uncommon, I have heard from a reasonable source of a bitch dying from internal bleeding in these circumstances. :(

We usually have one person holding the bitch and one person holding the dog and keeping them still because I have found the bitch wriggles. Floyd and Jasmine were great....they both manouvererd themselves into a lying down position, still tied but flat out on the floor, much easier for us. Floyd and Indi did the usual back to back standing, which, keeping them still, gave me the cramp :) But this post is making me wince.

I won't tell you what your post did to me Jayne

If you havn't already got a copy, I would recommend you get one of 'The Book of the Bitch'. I think you'll find it handy for when the pups come. The mating is the easy bit :)
