I'm soon getting a dog(first time dog owner) I need help on housebreaking, as I have no idea. Thanks for any help!
get a few puppy books to get you started. I would recommend the use of a crate to make a bed for your pup. pups learn best if they are not given the opportunity to make a mistake. your pup should either be playing supervised directly by you , asleep in its crate, or outside doing its business. get pup to sleep in crate, he wont want to soil his bed. as soon as he wakes, take him out until he does the necessary. praise him enthusiastically when he does it. you should take pup out frequently, and be aware that the most likely times to need the garden are after sleeping eating or playing. if you see an accident happen, pick up pup and take him out. if pup does something without you seeing, and you find it later, do not tell pup off as he wont know why you are doing it. under no circumstances should you ever rub his nose it.

I've also found that if, and when, your pup does have an accident indoors, clean it initially with a household disinfectant but then with a mild solution of washing powder. Apparently this neutralises the smell of dog wee and stops them re-marking in the same spot. I ended up washing my entire laminate lounge and dining room in this and leaving it to dry and she never tiddled in there again. My pup was also able to go for about 8/9 hours dry in the day by about 4 months old, so it doesn't last too long fortunately.
Also, after eating, playing, waking and generally every 20 minutes awake, walk your pup to the back door and take them outside. It's best to let the dog walk themselves to the door so that they know where to go to be let out in the future. I think that if you carry them they don't always learn where to go themselves.
Hope this helps, Stinkypup

I have finally started to crate train pup as the weather is fine now and the paper in the house is driving us craaaazy ..somethign I tried and it worked last night is I sprinkled the dog soap/liquid that prevents them weeing in places you don't want ..anyway I put dots of it on her cloth that lines the crate and she waited 7 hrs :) so I guess it works !
