Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / Won't Walk on Polished Floor

Hi,

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get a dog to walk on kitchen tiles, polished floor, laminate flooring?

Harry, our dobermann, hates these types of floor. Not too bad at home as there is not much expanse of them but when we go to training class it is a nightmare.

The hall that we train in is fine as they have a huge mat for the dogs to train on, but getting from the front door to the actual hall is almost impossible. Harry does lays down and refuses to go on the polished floor. I have tried pulling, food , ignoring but he will not walk on it. So now I have to carry a very large dog from the front door to the hall each week.

Everyone just laughs at him because he is so silly - but i am presuming that if i want to do obedience comps with him in future he must get over this as some of the places are bound to have this type of floor.

Karen.

have you tried using paw wax, our young lab refused to walk on laminated floors until i used this. You can get it from most good pets stores we got our from pets at home.
