Hi

I have a 14wk Rough collie/Border collie pup. He has had his injections and is currently being walked 2 times a day (once in the morning, once in the evening)

I would appciatte advise on if this is too much or not enough? And over how long a period we should build this up?

hi
you don't say how long you are walking him for? i would not recommend going to far at this age as he will grow to be a fair size.going up the road twice a day for 10 minutes is probably enough until he is a few months older, getting them out from an early age is good for them just not to much,be patient as you will have many years of fun ahead
hope this is a bit of help?!

Also whether the pup is walking on hard or soft ground and whether the pup walks to the walk ( if you get my meaning ) . In other words do you walk to the park say and then walk there for ten fifteen minutes say which in reality is really a longer walk .
Huh - i know what i mean just cant express it right :)

Hi, your pup will need all the socialization you can think of. At 14 weeks he should have encountered much already. He will get much excercise in play but walking with a collar and lead on the pavement for a 10 min walk gradually building on this twice daily will do no harm. Get him in the park on a longer lead and start recalling him, start sits and down in the garden this can all be learn from an early age with the help of a tit bit (from daily ration) just short spells of 5 mins. Take him in the car or public transport to various places even local shops to get used to traffic and various people and places, just short journey of 5/10 mins will be enough at first little outings all adds to variety. You have an active working breed that will need much stimulation to prevent boredom and chewing later, so get prepared now with things to do to keep that puppies active mind working!
