My other half is likely to be made redundant in the not too distant future. We've talked about different options, moving to wales, etc but also thought about setting up boarding kennels. I know we have the land and believe the potential business is there but need to explore in depth. Anyone got any pointers of where to start researching the logistics of it and who we need to speak to. Is it Environmental health, planning or what.
thanks

One of my friends is thinking along the same lines in a few years time. I know he's got a book which explains everything from scratch but I don't know which one he has. Maybe the library can help. He said it's very informative. There are also a few courses which are available.
Sorry I can't be more help :(
It'll be hard work :)

Hi Star.
You need planning and EH too. When you have plans you will need to discuss with the EHO if they will approve your considered construction. Ask for a copy of the model boarding conditions and the boarding act from your local environmental office and that will give you guidelines as to construction etc.. Get the books as someone else suggested too.

There is a web site http://www.kenneldesign.com they are based in Chipping Norton Oxford. They have Architectural Plans for the design of Kennel Blocks etc they also have some good articles and some good indicators of the cost
