The insurance company we have used for third party for my dog club for a number of years, Pet Plan, is dropping this kind of insurance.
All we require is cover for third party for club nights once a week and maybe an exemption show once or twice a year. Does anyone know of a company who provides this kind of cover? I know DBI used to do this but we changed from them when their premium went through the roof.

Should my dog belong in some club? I own a patterdale terrier and was wondering if i should place him in a club or if i should need insurance for him?

You really do need some third party insurance P E Dog. The club insurance we use is only to indemnify the club against claims. Often people's house insurance covers the dog as well but it would be wise to check. If your dog ever got out and caused an accedent the damages could run into millions! I use DBI for my own dog's third party insurance and have done for years.

Hi John,
This is news to us - our dog club has always had third party with Pet Plan (expires end of June), and the other local dog clubs here are with Pet Plan as well. Looks like we shall have to look around for another insurer then - one that's reasonably priced!!

Hi Hilda.
I saw the letter on Wednesday evening. I don’t have it in front of me at the moment, it’s with our treasurer at the moment but I believe I’m right in saying that they are taking no new business after March, and not renewing policies after April. I could be wrong in detail but basically that’s the way it is. Our policy runs out in October so we have time to sort something. If you have not heard anything it could be that you fall inside the “Renewal” period. I understand that is to give people time to make alternative arrangements.

Quite right John. The club I am treasurer of has to find new insurers by 5 May. Must make some phone calls.....

Hi John,
I have found out that a dog training club not far from us use an insurance company recommended by the Kennel Club - it's called Eucoidian Insurance Services Ltd ph: 01784 484617. Price quoted for 40 dogs is £92.40, 50 dogs £115.50. Let us know if you come across anywhere cheaper!

John, it might be worth checking with the KC. I know a while back they were looking into providing insurance cover for clubs/breed clubs, but I do not know what the outcome of this was. Could be worth dropping them an email and asking?

Just to add - please don't take my post as a recommendation as such............
I just picked up a load of information off them at a trade stand at Crufts. I haven't actually got round to ringing them for a quote for my own requirements yet. I've no idea how they compare to others :)

Hi all
I tried emailing the KC as Admin suggested and their answer was to contact Euclidian Insurance Services on 01784 484617 as Hilda said. I’ll bare that one in mind and try phoning around a couple of brokers I know of and see if I can come up with an alternative.
Thanks all, John
