I have a 10 week whippet pup called Basil and I have been doing alot of research into pet insurance. I like the look of the NFU policy as it is only £10.41 mth by DD over 11 mths, has £4000 of cover per insurance year, and has a lifelong policy. Has anybody had any problems with the NFU? I would like a company that guarantees no increases due to age or claim history but cannot seem to find any. Petshield guarantees that will not increase due to age but is a bit on the pricey side. Has anyone found any exceptional deals out there or any good websites that do comparisons of cover?

Dont know If I'm allowed to post this but I buy Dogs today and they have a phone number you can ring to get advice regarding pet insurance.
Call Neil 0845 601 8575. (dont know if its a free service though)
I have been tempted to call them myself as they have interesting letters regarding problems people have with insurance claims.

I wonder if anybody here has rang and received positive feedback from them. Be interested to hear.

Yes, i've rang Neil, when i wanted some advice.
It is a free service. He is an insurance broker that specialises in pet insurance. I was in the process of changing companies and wanted to know the same thing about Pet Pals (domestic and general),. He was exetremely helpful.
I would certainly recommend anyone to ring.

That's great as I've just been searching for new insurance after my last insurers hiked up the premium. I've shortlisted Pinnacle, Tesco and Sainsbury, but there's a vast difference in price and cover. Do you think I'll be able to get through tomorrow (Saturday). Otherwise I'll try on Monday.

The mag just says 9am - 6pm.
As for the companies you suggested, Pinnacle is the best.
Tesco and Sainsbury's will only cover ongoing problems for a while.
Tesco will exclude after 12 months.
Tesco won't pay for any mental problems.
Tesco MIGHT pay for any hereditary conditions.
NFU came out well in the Dogs Today survey of insurance companies.
Hope this helps.

All I can tell you is I purchased PetPlan. Friday my puppy broke her leg. Picked her up at the specialist orthopedist vet today and he was very relieved to hear it was PetPlan. He said of all the companies they have the most experience, know how much things costs, know the treatments needed, and give him the least grief of all the insurers. After fussing around making lots of comparisons I chose Petplan because a woman in my regular vet surgery said she has had them for years and never had any problem with them. The vet's receptionist said this was true from their perspective as well.

So, I am happy I chose PetPlan.

Hi

The best Pet Ins Co I've found is Pet Healthcare Insurance Services (in Berkshire). They have lifelong cover, no increase for age or postcode etc. Ring them and get the details. They have 2 levels of cover, and I have the higher. It costs 17 per month, but with 7k vet cover.

Hope this helps.
