Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Finding a breeder from a sire?

Hi,

Hope someone can give me some advice. I am looking at breeders at the moment but instead of looking at bitches I have seen a stud dog that I like. Do people phone up the sud dogs owner and ask who has used their dog on a bitch. Would the owners of bitches mind if the stud dog they were proposing to use gave their details to people looking for puppies from that particular dog?

I havn't phoned the stud dogs owner yet as I am not sure if this is the done thing in breeding. I would be grateful for any advice.

Thanks

Mel

Phoning a stud dog owner is fine - a perfectly acceptable thing to do! It's common practice for the owner of the sire to help find buyers for the pups - it takes 2 to tango after all!

Go for it! Good luck. :)

Hi there, I have located puppies several times by approaching stud dog owners. These people are usually thrilled to hear from you, and more than willing to get involved in finding you a puppy. Good Luck.
